裁决公布后，沃伦称调查属"政治迫害"，并与共和党参议员汤姆·蒂利斯共同呼吁司法部彻底放弃调查。随着调查受挫，其此前设定的前提条件趋于满足，沃什提名推进阻力明显下降。
