Middle East Tensions Show Signs of Turning Point! U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Monday that, due to “constructive progress” in negotiations with Iranian officials, he has instructed the Department of Defense to temporarily halt military strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure for five days. Although Tehran denied the reports, sources indicate that U.S. special envoys are mediating through Turkey, Egypt, and other countries, secretly engaging with Iranian Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf.

On the brink of a potential third world war, U.S. President Donald Trump once again uses “transactional diplomacy” to steer the situation back. On March 23 Taiwan time, Trump posted on Truth Social in his signature all-caps style, announcing that, based on “in-depth and constructive” talks over the past two days, he has ordered a temporary suspension of all military actions against Iran.
U.S. Special Envoys vs. Iran: Is the Islamabad Summit Imminent?
Although Iran’s Foreign Ministry claims “no negotiations are taking place,” Axios citing Israeli and U.S. sources reports that this high-level secret diplomacy is underway:
- U.S. Delegation: Composed of Trump confidant Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner (his son-in-law), and Vice President JD Vance.
- Iranian Representative: Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, whom Trump describes as “the most respected person” among Iran’s leadership.
- Mediating Countries: Turkey, Egypt, and Pakistan are actively involved, with reports suggesting that the two sides may hold in-person talks this week in Islamabad, Pakistan.
Trump’s “Three Major Peace Commitments”
Trump states that the current draft agreement has reached consensus on several key points, although Tehran has not officially confirmed. Trump remains highly optimistic about the negotiations:
- Reopening the Strait of Hormuz: Iran agrees to cease blockades and restore free navigation of global oil routes.
- Ending Nuclear Program: Iran commits to no longer pursuing nuclear weapons and to transferring its existing enriched uranium stockpiles.
- Missile Restraint: Maintaining a “low-key” approach to missile development.
In an interview, Trump said:
“If they follow through, the conflict will end. They want an agreement, and so do we. This is a great starting point for Iran to regain strength.”
