Taiwan has just added Huawei and SMIC to its list of entities restricted from high-tech exports, requiring domestic companies to obtain permission before exporting to the two Chinese semiconductor giants. This move cuts off China’s access to advanced chip technology, posing significant challenges for Huawei and SMIC in the race against American chip manufacturers like Nvidia.

The new measures are seen as a coordinated step with the technology restriction strategy led by America, in the context where semiconductors play a key role in both the Bitcoin mining industry and the AI field.
