The GENIUS Act, taking effect on July 18, 2025, is reshaping the U.S. Treasury market landscape by requiring stablecoins to be 100% backed by U.S. dollars or short-term Treasuries. Within four months of the act's implementation, the stablecoin market capitalization surged from $200 billion to $309 billion, prompting issuers to urgently purchase $109 billion in U.S. Treasuries. Treasury Secretary Scott Besant predicts that by 2030, the stablecoin market will reach $3 trillion, potentially saving the U.S. government $114 billion annually in financing costs, marking a new phase of deep integration between cryptocurrency and the traditional financial system.
