TechFlow News: On March 23, according to DL News, David Balland, co-founder of French cryptocurrency company Ledger, was kidnapped by a criminal gang in January 2025. The perpetrators severed his fingers and extorted bitcoin worth $11.5 million. Following the incident, police quickly responded, rescuing Balland and his partner, and arrested 10 suspects at the scene. However, one suspect escaped to Spain in the chaos. After weeks of joint pursuit by French and Spanish authorities, the suspect was ultimately apprehended in Benalmádena, Spain. Currently, the Fuengirola Court is proceeding with extradition procedures based on the EU European Arrest Warrant agreement, and French authorities have confirmed that all individuals involved in the case have been identified and arrested.
