He Yi: Undoubtedly the top woman in the crypto world.
The crypto industry was indeed male-dominated until a wealthy, attractive, and capable Sichuan girl emerged—she is He Yi.
If we are to find the origin of "women's power in the crypto industry," it must be He Yi. Even before entering the crypto space, He Yi's life was already colorful and rich, having completed two elegant cross-industry transitions.
The first time, before the age of 20, He Yi was ordinary—working as a salesperson and store manager. Later, she pursued a part-time graduate degree in psychological counseling at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing. Although this academic experience ended prematurely, He Yi changed her destiny and became a homeroom teacher at a university.
The second time, on the recommendation of friends, He Yi became an on-site host for Travel Channel's "Beautiful Destinations" and "How Far Can You Go," traveling across the country with the production team. After leaving Travel Channel, He Yi joined Beijing Satellite TV as the host of "New Discoveries in Beijing."
The third and most crucial time was when He Yi entered the crypto industry. In 2014, she met Xu Mingxing during a dinner gathering. Soon after, Xu Mingxing offered He Yi the position of Vice President at OKcoin. During her tenure at OKcoin, He Yi was mainly responsible for brand building and marketing. Besides helping OKcoin become a top-tier exchange, she also did something very meaningful—she recruited CZ to OKcoin. Subsequently, CZ and He Yi both resigned from OKcoin, and due to non-compete agreements, He Yi briefly left the crypto industry to serve as Vice President at another company. During this phase, He Yi demonstrated her strength by signing the contract with Song Joong-ki, a remarkable achievement. It’s worth noting that Song Joong-ki was hugely popular in China at the time thanks to "Descendants of the Sun." This fully illustrates the principle that "where there is talent, it will shine."
In 2017, CZ founded Binance (BN). After her non-compete agreement ended, He Yi accepted CZ’s invitation to become a co-founder and CMO of Binance, marking the beginning of her shining moment.
From 2017 to the present, He Yi has closely collaborated with CZ, actively deploying strategies in the global cryptocurrency market and Web 3.0 space, conquering new territories. In managing Binance, He Yi has shown her long-term vision and bold insight.
In fact, before she joined Binance, BNB had already fallen below 50% of its issuance price. At that time, after investing in BNB, He Yi had less than 1 million RMB remaining. She used all of that money to buy BNB. There is a joke circulating that someone once asked He Yi about her annual salary at Binance, and she proudly replied, "That’s probably just pocket money, I don’t really pay attention." And that’s indeed true. Today, He Yi is the second-largest shareholder of Binance. Some speculate that, including her shares, profits, and her holdings of BNB, her current assets exceed 1.5 billion USD, making her a genuine female billionaire.
