  • App Studio adds no-code Pi payment setup and enables free app iteration deployments by watching ads.

Pi Network has announced new features for Pi App Studio, alongside a community survey event that offers in-platform credits to early participants. The update aims to expand app creation options for non-technical users and increase the number of apps that can accept Pi-based payments within the network. The company said the creator event opened on January 22, with a short survey available from a banner inside the App Studio interface. The first 1,000 qualified responses are set to receive 5 Pi credits, which can be used only within Pi App Studio for app creation and customization. Pi Network added that spam responses will not qualify for the reward.

App Studio credits are designed to reduce the cost barrier tied to AI-generated iterations and server deployments in the tool. The survey is also intended to gather feedback on which App Studio apps users find most useful, with responses used to guide future improvements to the platform. Previously, CNF reported that Pi Network launched a new developer library designed to enable in-app Pi payments for ecosystem apps in under 10 minutes. The package combines the Pi SDK with backend APIs into a single setup to reduce configuration work and standardize payment flows across client and server environments. App Studio Adds Deployment Options Pi App Studio now includes an in-app payment integration flow that wraps Pi payment setup into interactive steps. The initial release supports Test-Pi for in-app payments, enabling creators to add payment functionality without writing code. The update also expands access to deployment. Pi Network said users who are new or not yet migrated can deploy app iterations without paying Pi by watching ads, providing an alternative to fee-based deployments.  Moreover, App Studio changes arrive as Pi Network prepares for a larger token unlock in January. Separate market trackers and exchange research notes have referenced an unlock schedule of about 134 million PI this month, which would significantly increase the circulating supply. Earlier in the week, we covered Pi Network’s rollout of TokPi, a Pi-native short video and live streaming app integrated into Pi Browser and Pi Wallet for Pi-based digital gifting. TokPi includes TikTok-style feeds, live chat, creator following, and multilingual support, expanding social and entertainment use cases inside the Pi ecosystem. Following the ecosystem news, Pi Network token rallied to an intraday high of $0.189 before easing back toward $0.183. At the time of writing, Pi coin was up 1.4% in the last day, with 24-hour trading volume at** $14.12** million.

Pi Network price hits a new 7-week low as a wave of 60 million token unlocks comes in

Pi Network's native token PI fell to $0.165 in April, hitting a 7-week low and leaving market sentiment weak. The unlock peak will release more than 60 million PI, adding downward pressure. Despite the core team recently publishing technical updates, it failed to improve market confidence and instead drew community criticism due to KYC access issues and the ongoing slide in price. Increased future supply could further drive prices lower.

Pi Network PIRC baseline protection mechanism sparks controversy, implying a “quasi-stablecoin” logic

Pi Network member Daniel F raised a logical contradiction in the PIRC token design, noting that if it has a 23.8% floor protection, it would need to behave like a stablecoin, which conflicts with its high volatility on CEX. This floor is based on Pi’s price calculations; if Pi itself fluctuates significantly, it will be unable to effectively protect holders. Daniel emphasized the importance of transparency, but the project team did not respond to it, leading the community to continue speculating about the reasons for its silence.
