LUKSO settles in Unreal Engine to break barriers to blockchain games

Compiled by: Blockchain Knight

Unreal Engine, a development framework developed by Epic Games for deploying interactive 2D and 3D content, has integrated LUKSO in its blockchain integration plug-in, according to a tweet on September 19. Mainnet and standards. The tool currently supports multiple platforms, including Polygon and Avalanche.

LUKSO stated that this integration means users will be able to interact directly with universal profiles and flexible non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in the game. Universal profiles in LUKSO are interoperable and represent a verified digital identity, allowing users to control their online avatar and digital assets.

According to the Unreal Engine documentation, the plug-in is a set of tools, or a library, that allows game developers to integrate blockchain functionality into their games. The plugin can also communicate with smart contracts programmed using Solidity.

Unreal Engine also revealed that the plug-in allows users to mint, transfer and use NFT as a "portal" to exploration. At the same time, users can also use the plug-in to integrate the "play while earning" (P2E) function.

Hours after the deal was announced, LYX, the LUKSO blockchain’s native token, remained stable. Like the broader Crypto market, the token has gradually begun to recover after experiencing a sharp decline in mid-August.

Initially, when the Unreal Engine blockchain integration tool was launched, it only supported Ethereum. Ethereum is the "pioneer" of smart contract platforms and its NFT and game ecosystem is relatively more active.

However, in subsequent updates, Epic Games integrated zk-rollups, Immutable X, and Optimism, which are all Layer 2 solutions designed to scale Ethereum and reduce transaction costs. Prior to this, the plugin also supported the ERC-20 and ERC-1155 standards.

Although Epic Games and Unreal Engine are EVM compatible, they integrated LUKSO before Solana.

LUKSO was co-founded by Fabian Vogelsteller, the creator of the ERC-20 standard and considered one of the few early “shapers” of Ethereum.

The standard provides support for thousands of tokens, including Uniswap’s native token UNI and Maker’s governance token MKR.

It is reported that the engine plug-in will also support OpenSea and BTC in future versions.
