David Bailey, CEO of Bitcoin Magazine, has proposed that the “Gold Card” investor visa program announced by U.S. President Donald Trump should be funded with Bitcoin (BTC).
David Bailey, the CEO of Bitcoin Magazine, has brought up the inclusion of Bitcoin in the payment method of the program called “Gold Card”, which provides US residency to wealthy individuals for about $5 million. Bailey said that although elites, especially in developing countries, have a desire to move to the United States, they have serious difficulties in getting this amount of money out of their own countries.
According to Bailey, Bitcoin could offer a simpler, safer, and more private way to transfer large amounts of money between countries. Bailey called on the Trump administration to increase the program’s appeal if this option is adopted. Thus, he emphasized that Bitcoin can be used not only as an investment tool, but also as a new payment method in international migration policies.
Bitcoin era for US residency?
Such a program using Bitcoin could expand the real-life use cases of cryptocurrencies while also strengthening Bitcoin’s legal status. This could not only create new opportunities for Bitcoin users, but also modernize the U.S. government’s financial processes.
