The Chinese Academy of Sciences launches the next-generation open-source chip and system development
Mars Finance News: On March 26, at the Zhongguancun Forum Annual Conference—RISC-V Ecosystem Technology Forum, the Chinese Academy of Sciences officially announced a series of major achievements in RISC-V key technology breakthroughs, industrial collaborative innovation, and talent development. The event featured the simultaneous release of two significant results: the “Xiangshan” open-source processor and the “Ruyi” native operating system, and the official launch of joint research and development for the next-generation chips and operating systems. Experts explained that RISC-V is a globally free and open chip architecture, comparable to a “universal standard” in the chip industry. It does not require patent fees and can be modified independently, making it an important route for China to break through the chip ecosystem and develop controllable computing power.
At the event, the “Xiangshan” open-source high-performance RISC-V processor was unveiled, reaching international advanced levels in performance. The world’s first open-source on-chip interconnection network IP was also introduced, making it a leading open-source high-performance RISC-V processor system globally. The “Ruyi” RISC-V native operating system fully supports international standards, further consolidating China’s leading position in open-source software. The joint R&D of the next-generation “Kunming Lake” architecture and the joint development of the “Ruyi” operating system have been launched simultaneously.
Dozens of organizations, including China Mobile, China Telecom, ZTE, Alibaba, Tencent, and ByteDance, will collaborate on tackling key issues across the entire chain of chips, operating systems, terminals, and applications, accelerating the formation of an innovation system that integrates industry, academia, research, and application.
