Mars Finance News, March 17 — A senior official in the Trump administration stated on Tuesday that if the government funding shortage continues, some smaller airports may be forced to close in the coming weeks due to security personnel shortages. This partial government shutdown has resulted in 50,000 TSA airport security personnel working without pay over the past month, with 10% of staff not showing up for work on Sunday. “Over time, if this situation persists, we may need to take very serious measures, such as potentially shutting down airports entirely—especially smaller airports,” said Adam Staal, Acting Deputy Director of the Transportation Security Administration, to Fox News.
