Grayscale recently filed an S-1 registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, seeking to convert its Grayscale Near Trust into a fully-fledged ETF. The trust currently operates as an OTC trading vehicle on the OTCQB market under the square symbol "GSNR." According to Foresight News, once the SEC approves the registration and prospectus, the fund plans to transition its listing to NYSE Arca while maintaining its recognizable square symbol ticker. This strategic move would elevate Near's institutional accessibility—transforming it from an over-the-counter square symbol structure into a regulated exchange-traded fund format. For Grayscale, the conversion aligns with the growing institutional demand for accessible cryptocurrency exposure, while for Near holders, the shift to NYSE Arca could significantly boost liquidity and mainstream adoption.
