Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has recently shown a clear shift in his view of native Rollups—moving from a reserved stance to outright support.

Here's the situation. Previously, Vitalik's concerns about this approach mainly stemmed from the immature state of ZK-EVM technology. At that time, native Rollup precompiles could only operate in either ZK or Optimistic modes, which meant projects had to make tough choices, potentially limiting the flexibility of Layer 2 solutions in certain scenarios.

But that's no longer the case. With the iteration and improvement of ZK technology, this technical barrier is gradually being overcome. Vitalik's change in attitude reflects the broader Ethereum community's increased understanding of Layer 2 solutions—from earlier technical compromises to more mature and reliable options.

What does this mean for the ecosystem? Once Native Rollups receive endorsement from core developers, related projects' fundraising, partnerships, and user adoption could all see increased confidence. For those interested in Ethereum scaling solutions, this signal is worth paying attention to.

The previous ZK-EVM bottleneck was indeed a major flaw. It now seems that Vitalik's change of stance is still backed by technical support. However, I am more concerned about how much actual funding and user traffic this support signal can bring to Native Rollups projects. Don't just talk about it; let's wait and see in half a year.
