A prominent security researcher recently unveiled a sophisticated fake support scam targeting crypto users, with losses allegedly reaching $2 million. The fraudsters impersonated official support channels and exploited social engineering tactics across Telegram and various social platforms to compromise user accounts.

Here's what you need to know to stay safe:

**Red flags to watch for:**
- Any unsolicited DMs claiming to be from exchange support
- Requests to verify your account or "confirm" holdings
- Pressure to act quickly or threats of account suspension
- Links sent through unofficial channels

**Protection checklist:**
- Contact support exclusively through official channels—never through links in messages
- Never, under any circumstances, share your seed phrase or private keys with anyone
- Store significant holdings in hardware wallets rather than hot wallets
- Enable two-factor authentication with authenticator apps, not SMS
- Double-check URLs before entering credentials

Scammers are getting smarter at mimicking legitimate support, but they can't replicate official verification methods. When in doubt, log into the official platform directly and check your message center there.

Oh no, here we go again. Two million gone just because of clicking on a fake link. These scammers are really getting better at acting. --- Your seed phrase must stay secret. Never reveal it to anyone, including your mom. --- Hardware wallets have saved me countless times. Does anyone still keep coins on exchanges nowadays? --- Those "official customer service" accounts on Telegram look obviously fake, but people still fall for it. It's terrifying upon closer inspection. --- Remember one principle: official channels will never reach out to you proactively. If they do, it's a scam. --- Two million, huh? Some people may never earn that in their lifetime. Losing it like this is truly despairing. --- I just want to know how many people are still using SMS verification. Brothers, it's time to wake up. --- The most ridiculous part is that they still have to teach people how to protect themselves. Basic knowledge needs to be repeated. --- Always type URLs manually. Copying and pasting could land you in a trap at any moment.

These two million bucks are stuck in Bengbu again, it's the old social engineering trick. --- Seed phrase really, don't give a single word to strangers, this must be engraved in your mind. --- Hardware wallets are truly non-negotiable; using a hot wallet for large amounts is just asking for trouble. --- I just want to ask, why are some people still clicking on those suspicious links... Is it really that hard to log in directly through the official website? --- Two million gone, how many times do these people need to learn? This trick has been used by someone years ago. --- Authenticator app instead of SMS, this needs to be emphasized; SMS is really vulnerable to man-in-the-middle attacks. --- Actually, scammers just profit from information asymmetry; being a bit more cautious can easily break their schemes. --- Every time I see this kind of news, I feel some people's OPSEC definitely needs a refresher.

It's the same old story again, it takes someone to fall for it every time... That bunch of fake customer service on Telegram is really disgusting. I've seen friends get scammed before. Hardware wallets should have been standard equipment a long time ago.

Another old-fashioned phishing trick, how are people still falling for it? Oh my God, two million dollars just disappeared like that, serves them right for not being cautious. Hardware wallets are truly the best; some people still keep their assets on exchanges and sleep peacefully. Telegram has become completely unreliable, you can't trust anything there. Nowadays, you have to log in yourself to check support, all DMs are from scammers.
