【Re】Looking back, my 9 years in the crypto world have been a rollercoaster from earning 8,000 yuan to reaching a peak of 53 million yuan.

【Dare to explore and try, only then will there be opportunities】1. In March 2016, my parents lost a lot of money in their business and were chased for debts. I was afraid to go home, so I hid in the university library reading books. At that time, I only had one thought: to make a lot of money, pay off debts, and restore my parents' lost dignity.

With that sense of financial scarcity, I read many books until I saw a blogger’s link on the back of an economics author’s book. I followed it and found an article about Bitcoin. I still remember the title: "Once this thing appears, it will surely disrupt the world."

I believed deeply in the content of that article and started frantically searching for all people and articles related to Bitcoin.

2. I found a way to buy Bitcoin and Ethereum on a platform called OTCBTC at that time. I remember holding 8,000 yuan and using it to buy Ethereum, which cost less than 100 yuan each.

3. By August 2017, I learned that Ethereum’s price had reached over $200. When I checked my account, I saw that my 8,000 yuan had turned into over 200,000. I believed even more that blockchain would revolutionize the era. But good times didn’t last. In September, a red-headed document was issued, causing Ethereum’s price to fall from over $290 back to around $100. Many exchanges hurried to shut down or go bankrupt. I heard OTCBTC was no longer safe, but I managed to withdraw in time, transferring my assets to a exchange called BigONE.

4. The market quickly recovered afterward. Many projects claimed they could change the world. Many friends invested heavily in Ethereum-based projects and soon earned millions or tens of millions. I also got anxious. During the craziest times, I joined over ten project groups with hundreds of people each day, staying up until 3 a.m. transferring Ethereum into new projects as they launched. I invested in a very promising project called GXS (Gongxinbao), putting in less than 100,000 yuan, which grew to over 2 million. I withdrew and sold it on a trading platform called Huobi. I was floating on cloud nine, thinking I was destined for sudden wealth. Later, I kept investing Ethereum into various projects, and at my best, my account reached 3.8 million yuan. Many times, slow is fast; doing the right thing repeatedly is enough.

5. Then, in 2018, a nightmare happened. I felt I was earning too slowly and was not satisfied. I swapped all my remaining Ethereum for EOS and used leverage on a coin-margined platform. As expected, everything was liquidated, leaving only a small amount of Bitcoin in my wallet, worth about 80,000 yuan at the time.

6. I reflected deeply. I stopped reckless trading, lacked understanding, experience, and discipline. No matter how much money I made, I would lose it all. I then stopped rushing and continued accumulating Bitcoin and Ethereum during the bear market. My goal was to buy 1,000 Ethereum and 100 BTC within a year.

【You may get hurt even if you do nothing, always be prepared】

7. Just as I was about to reach my goal, the exchange I used, FCION, went bankrupt. I had hundreds of Ethereum and dozens of BTC stored there. All gone. I calculated that I had already accumulated over 10 million yuan, but after the collapse, I was left with only about 5 million.

【Small bets can create miracles; don’t underestimate the power of playing big to win small】

8. I started diversifying my assets, no longer putting everything in one place. During 2019, I finally made a profit from a project called RunShoe, earning over 1,000 BNB. Soon after, BNB’s rise pushed my total assets back over 10 million.

9. Again, in 2021, during the DeFi boom, I heavily invested in several DeFi tokens. Over the course of a month, I earned more than ten times on several coins. My account once peaked at 32 million yuan. I got carried away, thinking I was invincible. I believed I could double it again to over 60 million, so I withdrew over 10 million to buy 10 different DeFi tokens on various chains. All of them eventually went to zero. Many DeFi projects lost over 70%, costing me more than 13 million yuan. Every time I tried to gamble big, I ended up losing everything.

【Passive locking and continuous trying—losses and gains are normal】

10. On April 6, 2025, I sold all my properties and used 75,000 yuan to buy back the Bitcoin I had sold earlier. After a major drawdown, my account balance was only over 30 million yuan.

I sealed my Bitcoin in a cold wallet forever. Only locking assets can preserve them. I never let exchanges hold more than 10% of my total funds; if it exceeds, I transfer it back to the cold wallet immediately.

The story continues—keep gambling, keep trying, reflect, get hurt, reflect again, and try anew...

The market is always changing. When a new thing appears, I need to learn again. But some things remain constant: good assets will always be good assets. New opportunities and stories will always emerge.

When the market is bad, buy assets that won’t die even if you buy at the bottom. When the market improves, boldly try new things—altcoins, meme coins. What if they really take off? The key is—always be someone who can bet and afford to lose, and can win. Wishing us all success. Let’s leap together in the crypto world!
