A recent case involving Bitcoin-related occupational crimes in Russia has just been resolved. A former traffic police officer was sentenced to 7 years in prison for illegally embezzling approximately 20 million rubles (equivalent to tens of thousands of dollars) worth of Bitcoin.

The case began in 2022. During the investigation, the officer abused his authority to illegally access the mobile phones of two detainees. After gaining access, he logged into their encrypted wallet accounts via messaging apps and transferred the Bitcoin to his own controlled wallet. The entire process was accompanied by violent interrogation tactics, including torture, which significantly aggravated his criminal conduct.

The court ultimately ruled: 7 years of supervised detention, plus compensation of about 20 million rubles to the victims. This penalty level is relatively severe compared to similar cases internationally.

This case serves as a reminder to cryptocurrency holders of several key points: First, protecting private keys and wallet access credentials is crucial—do not store sensitive information in mobile apps; second, when involved in judicial procedures, fully understand your rights to prevent overreach; third, cross-border crime enforcement is becoming increasingly strict, and even individuals with special statuses are not above the law. For exchange users, using hardware wallets and enabling multi-factor authentication has become standard practice.

Police are starting to seize coins, who still dares to keep private keys on their phones now? --- Hardware wallets are truly indispensable. This situation shows that overreach of authority is everywhere. --- Seven years is quite harsh, but it still feels like there are some escapees. --- Damn, even the police are involved in seizing, who can you trust now? --- Multi-signature wallets are the way to go. It's no longer a joke. --- This guy is too greedy, insisting on doing it himself. Now it's all good. --- Honestly, centralized wallets are the real ticking time bombs. --- The Russian court's crackdown was unexpectedly harsh. Would it be the same domestically? --- Storing private keys offline is not just recommended, it's a must. --- With police involved, how can we trust the judicial process?

If police are willing to do it, it shows that leaving the private key on the phone is just asking for death. Hardware wallets are really not optional. Seven years for sentencing? If it were in China, it would be doubled, but it has indeed served as a warning. Damn, power really dares to reach for everything, so I've long stored my private keys in a cold wallet. This guy is truly greedy. Stealing a BTC and still needing additional interrogation, self-destructive. Brothers who store private keys in mobile apps must be exhausted now, quickly switch to a hardware wallet. Incredible, public officials committing crimes are still so arrogant, but getting caught is the real point.

Police dare to move Bitcoin, these days there's really no safety... Hardware wallets are indeed something that needs to be taken seriously --- Storing private keys on your phone is basically suicide, this guy just gave everyone a live lesson --- 7 years is still light, just think about how painful those two victims must have felt --- What does this tell us? In the face of power, we have to protect ourselves; exchanges are also unreliable --- It's the mobile app again causing trouble, I’ve been saying for a long time that hardware wallets are necessary --- So it turns out even public authority is interested, this market is really... never mind, I won't say more --- So why do some people still keep their coins on exchanges? Can't they see these kinds of news

Police are starting to seize coins, it's truly incredible. Now, private key management really can't be sloppy. --- Losing money after 7 years, the Russian judge isn't joking. Once this case comes out, many people should check their wallet permissions. --- So don't store anything on your phone, hardware wallets are really standard. Otherwise, you never know who might log in someday. --- Torture and theft of coins—these police are really dogs, but it also shows that coins are still easy to target. --- This story tells us that overreach of power is more dangerous than hackers. Truly incredible. --- Multi-factor authentication should have been used long ago. Now it doesn't seem redundant. --- Even traffic police are eyeing coins, which shows that the crypto world is really wealthy, haha.

The police dare to seize coins now, what does that mean? It means we really need to start saving money properly, truly. Hardware wallets are not a luxury item; they are a necessity, brother. Store your private keys in your mind, don't keep anything on your phone, it's that simple. Seven years is still considered light; I haven't seen good results from cases involving coins. This guy is really brave; he even abused his authority to steal coins, and in the end, he was caught. Storing private keys on a mobile app? Then just wait to be exploited. Multi-factor authentication has saved me several times; I don't know how many people are still vulnerable. No matter how much power you have, you can't escape the law; this case proves everything. Wallet security > transaction convenience, there's nothing comparable.

Police dare to seize coins, indicating that the monitoring of on-chain fund flows is really upgrading. The recovery of 20 million rubles at this scale must involve a highly complex fund chain analysis, and the tracing capability of the Russian judicial authorities should not be underestimated.

The police dare to steal coins, there's really no safety these days. --- Storing private keys on your phone = going naked, I've said this before. --- Seven years in prison is not unjust, the problem is how many officials haven't been caught yet. --- This guy is too weak, robbing openly here, hardware wallets really need to be standard equipment. --- How come even law enforcement officers are thinking about moving coins? Trust has collapsed. --- I just want to know how those two victims are doing now. Can the compensation be recovered? --- The first step in self-protection: never let anyone access your mobile wallet. --- The Russian judge was fair this time; if this happened domestically, they'd probably be half-dead.
