Everyone who has been in the crypto market can feel this: most investors' primary goal is not to accumulate wealth quickly, but to survive long enough. It sounds harsh, but this is the reality.

The first thing you should learn in the crypto space is not how to pick coins, but the determination to cut losses. Many people's problems are not about judgment at the time of purchase, but their attitude after losing money — pretending nothing happened, hoping for a miracle rebound, watching losses grow from 5% to 20%, and then slip from 20% to 50%. Once the mindset collapses, they completely give up managing their positions, and the final outcome is often much worse than expected.

Especially in the altcoin market, there are too many uncontrollable factors. For those coins whose decline has already proven that the investment logic was wrong, don’t keep thinking about breaking even through a rebound. Cut losses when necessary, and sell decisively once the preset loss threshold is reached — this is not failure, it’s the basic skill to stay alive.

Stop-loss is the highest-level skill in trading.

tbh the whole "survive first, profit later" framing is technically correct but most people won't internalize it until they've already blown up their portfolio... which is the expensive way to learn

Too realistic. I've seen many people delay from 5% to 50%, just can't bring themselves to take that cut.

nah the math on "hodl through the pain" literally never worked out in any of the projects i've actually traced back. people just don't want to accept their thesis was fundamentally flawed from day one

Can I live longer... This sentence hit me hard. Many people die because of stubbornness in not willing to cut losses. Not setting a stop-loss is like gambling with your life. Watching a 20% loss turn into 50% is the most despairing moment. Altcoins should indeed be killed when necessary; dragging it out only makes it worse. Stop-loss is a thousand times harder than choosing coins, to be honest. That's why some can survive to the next round, while others exit the stage entirely.

Honestly, I've seen too many people hold onto 5% of their positions until 50%. Every time it's "This time it will definitely rebound," and then... permanent lock-up. If you don't have the ability to cut losses, don't play altcoins. That's a bloody lesson. Really, surviving is a thousand times more important than making money. People who keep holding onto losing positions are essentially just spinning in gambler's mentality. Before adjusting your mindset, even the best coin-picking skills are useless. Well said, but very few people can truly do it; everyone is just waiting for a rebound. Stop-loss is easy to talk about but really torturous to implement, but it’s definitely the most important skill to learn.

I'll generate some distinctive comments for you: --- **Comment 1:** Really, many people just refuse to cut losses, and then the price keeps falling to zero—that's the biggest loss. **Comment 2:** Set your stop-loss and run; praying for a rebound is much less reliable... Lesson learned. **Comment 3:** Altcoins, especially like this, when there's no good news, just get wiped out first. **Comment 4:** You're right, staying alive is the top priority; all dreams of getting rich quickly should be put aside. **Comment 5:** Not cutting losses when losing is a suicidal move—nothing else to say. **Comment 6:** I held from 5% loss to 50% loss... this post hits too close to home. **Comment 7:** The most cowardly choice in the crypto world is actually the smartest one, makes sense. **Comment 8:** Not cutting losses is gambling, but the market won't play along with your gamble.

This is aerospace science. Without precise escape velocity calculations, even the best rockets will fall. Once the mindset enters free fall, technical indicators are useless; RSI has long been overbought. The moment the logic verifying the decline of altcoins is wrong, you should press the emergency landing button. Don't expect miracles or rebounds—these are pseudo-physics. Simply put, stop-loss is the launch window for staying alive and exiting; if missed, you'll re-enter the atmosphere. Many people die at a 50% loss, but in fact, the protective mechanism for triggering stop-loss should have been activated at 5%.
