According to Wu Shuo, in response to recent discussions about the traceability of Zcash transactions, SlowMist founder Yu Jian stated that Zcash’s privacy model has not changed recently; its design has distinguished between optional privacy from the start. Z addresses are shielded addresses, while T addresses are transparent and can be tracked through on-chain analysis. He pointed out that this "optional privacy" mechanism makes Zcash more acceptable to regulators compared to Monero, which enforces strong privacy by default. Currently, most Zcash addresses used on mainstream platforms are T addresses, indicating that the proportion of users with strong privacy needs is relatively small. Yu Jian believes that Zcash's approach is more scalable in balancing privacy and regulation, and he made an analogy: Bitcoin is like HTTP, while Zcash is like HTTP/HTTPS.
