Bored, just chatting casually.

I just saw a piece of news saying that OpenAI has burned a total of $143 billion, making it the startup with the largest cumulative losses in the world. Suddenly, two words popped into my head—"expectation".

Why is OpenAI able to keep attracting investors' funds despite burning so much money? It's simply because people value its expected future profitability.

It's the same with Web3 projects. Why should I pay gas fees to interact with contracts or DEXs that I normally wouldn't touch, and even take on risks? It's just because I expect the points I earn might be exchanged for their future token launches and airdrops.

The current dilemma in the Web3 airdrop space is actually just an issue of expectations.
Whether tokens will be issued, whether there will be rug pulls, community allocation, the cold market for copycats—these factors are all signaling that there’s not much to look forward to with most airdrop projects anymore.
