Ethereum mainnet Gas Fee has dropped to as low as $0.02, even lower than L2... The "fee reduction" you wanted for Ethereum mainnet has already been achieved ahead of schedule.
Since DeFi Summer in 2020, there probably hasn't been a time when Gas has been this low. Ethereum mainnet Gas is now as low as 0.1 Gwei. A transfer on the Ethereum mainnet now only requires $0.02 in Gas fees. This is a stark contrast compared to previous fees of tens or even hundreds of dollars per transaction.
Transfer fees for several mainstream L2s: ARB $0.004, OP $0.006, and BASE, as an L2, actually has a higher Gas Fee than the mainnet.

The L2 path is destined to be abandoned.
