California Governor Newsom acknowledges: considering running for the 2028 presidential election

On October 27, Jin10 reported that California Governor Newsom stated that if he denies he is considering a presidential run, then he is “lying.” When asked if he would “seriously consider” running for president after the mid-term elections (2026), the governor agreed. Newsom has become one of the key voices opposing President Trump, harshly criticizing the Trump administration's practices regarding the deployment of the National Guard and the apprehension of immigrants. Due to term limits, he will be unable to seek re-election as governor in 2026. Newsom previously stated that if he decides to run for president, he needs a “reason” (“why”). Newsom said that if a person has a “compelling reason,” then no matter how “difficult the process,” they can persevere. He said, “I think the biggest challenge anyone faces when running for office is that people can see through you at a glance. If you don’t have that ‘why,’ then your candidacy is based on the wrong reasons.”
