Bitcoin is rising on rising risk appetite following news that China and the US will meet for the first time this week to discuss the trade war.
Patrick Munnelly said in a note that the upcoming trade talks have raised optimism that tensions between the world’s two largest economies could ease.
Munnelly said that this has provided a temporary boost to markets ahead of the Fed’s policy decision at 9:00 p.m., but that further gains will depend on the outcome of the US-China talks.
The Fed is expected to keep interest rates unchanged and reiterate its “wait and see” stance. Bitcoin rose 2.35% to $96,935.40.
