BlockBeats message, March 31: In an interview with CBS News, Trump said he is “not yet prepared” to give up efforts to pressure Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. A CBS reporter called Trump on Tuesday morning local time, asking him to clarify remarks he had previously suggested might abandon the related actions. Trump reiterated his dissatisfaction that other countries had not sent military forces to join in the U.S.-led effort regarding Iran’s military actions, but said he was not yet prepared for the United States to pull out of the conflict. “At some point I will do that, but not now. Other countries have to step in and handle it themselves. Iran has been weakened, but they have to finish the job themselves.”

Trump also reiterated that although Iran is still carrying out strikes against ships and infrastructure in countries in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz “does not pose a real threat.” “Let them go fight for it themselves. They don’t want to help anybody. NATO is terrible, they’re all terrible. So if they want oil, they should go get it themselves,” Trump said. (Jin10)
