This year is a landmark in the evolution of the Ethereum ecosystem. At the end of July, the Ethereum mainnet will celebrate its 10th anniversary, and in August, Etherscan—a vital blockchain explorer in the Ethereum ecosystem—will also hit its own decade milestone.
To mark this occasion, Etherscan launched a special points campaign, which has sparked widespread community speculation about a potential future token launch.
Etherscan is a Web3 blockchain explorer platform specializing in search, API, and analytics services. Founded in August 2015 around Ethereum and its community, it stands among the earliest and longest-running independent projects in the space. Etherscan aims to provide users with fair access to blockchain data and empowers them to easily explore block information, transaction details, smart contract code, and other critical on-chain data.
Etherscan’s offerings have expanded significantly over the years.
In addition to its core block explorer functionality, it provides API services, smart contract verification, a Gas Tracker, tagging systems, and a suite of other useful tools.
The networks supported have grown from Ethereum to multi-chain environments. This includes the rollout of Etherscan API V2 in October 2024 (covering 50+ blockchains), integration of Solscan (via acquisition), Blockscan—a multi-chain explorer supporting 30+ blockchains—HyperEvmScan, and more.
On the commercial side, Etherscan’s proprietary B2B offering “Explorer as a Service” (EaaS) served more than 30 enterprise clients as of October 2024, further extending its business reach.
The campaign is open to all registered and active Etherscan accounts created before August 12, 2025.
Initial campaign period: August 12, 2025 to August 31, 2025.
Etherscan reiterates that its points are not on-chain tokens, not token airdrops, and cannot be traded. Points can be redeemed for rewards including perks, exclusive merchandise, platform features, and limited-edition surprises.
Regarding whether Etherscan will issue a token in the future, the possibility remains open within the industry.
