Xiamen completes the first fruit export "air-to-air" transshipment customs clearance process
Original title: Xiamen completes its first “air-to-air transshipment” customs clearance business for fruit exports
(Fujian Daily reporter Liao Liping, correspondent Zeng Chengying) At 8:00 a.m. on the 26th, a batch of Dalian strawberries weighing 730 kilograms, under the supervision of the Xiamen Airport Customs under the Xiamen Customs, flew to Singapore on MF851 by means of an “air-to-air transshipment” customs clearance, marking the successful completion of Xiamen’s first “air-to-air transshipment” customs clearance business for fruit exports.
“Strawberries are ‘fresh, special, and urgent’ export commodities. Their skins are extremely thin, and any misstep can easily cause bruising, spoilage, and rotting. That means very high requirements for preservation and timeliness.” Yang Guang, sales department of the Xiamen cargo terminal of Shangzhou Air Logistics Co., Ltd., said, “Because Dalian has no direct flights to Singapore, transportation has long been constrained. Now, thanks to the dense Southeast Asia routes at the Xiamen port, using the ‘air-to-air transshipment’ customs clearance model, the strawberries are shipped from the Dalian warehouse to the Singapore market for shelf placement, with the entire process taking less than 24 hours—truly enabling rapid freshness locking.”
To ensure that this batch of strawberries can reach foreign consumers’ dining tables as quickly as possible, Xiamen Airport Customs carried out precise measures: actively kept in communication with Dalian Customs, conducted early testing of the information and data transmission system, and closely monitored the status of the cargo. At the same time, given that the flight arrived in Xiamen late at night, it launched a “rapid lane” for the export of perishable and easily spoiled agricultural products, assigned dedicated personnel to expedite inspection and clearance, and guided the enterprise in quickly completing procedures for transferring the goods to another storage location. Relying on the “Aviation Logistics Public Information Platform,” it shortened the time for customs clearance transfer submission, review, and release, ensuring that the strawberries have “freshness through customs clearance.”
“Next, we will further expand the scope of the ‘air-to-air transshipment’ customs clearance business according to the needs of enterprises, and carry out transshipment export businesses for more fresh products such as oysters, helping Xiamen become a ‘springboard’ for more fresh products to go overseas.” Zheng Zhe, head of the logistics supervision division of Xiamen Airport Customs, said.
“Air-to-air transshipment” in air cargo transportation refers to a transport mode in which cargo arrives at the destination via two or more flights. It helps revitalize resources of air cargo routes, builds a more convenient air freight bridge, and at the same time reduces transportation costs.
