Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region advances the construction of an international science and technology innovation center and deepens scientific research collaboration
The Central Economic Work Conference has made arrangements to expand the “Beijing International Science and Technology Innovation Center” to the “Beijing (Jingjinji) International Science and Technology Innovation Center.” On March 27, the Jingjinji Collaborative Innovation and High-Quality Development Forum was successfully held at the Zhongguancun International Innovation Center in Beijing, gathering nearly 500 guests to discuss the paths and models of regional collaborative innovation.
It is reported that the three regions will take the opportunity of jointly building the “Beijing (Jingjinji) International Science and Technology Innovation Center” to jointly establish a modern industrial system and collaboratively cultivate new productive forces oriented towards the future.
At the forum, Tan Tianwei, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, deeply analyzed the current development status of the synthetic biology field, and in conjunction with the research and industrial foundation in Jingjinji, proposed suggestions for the three regions to deepen the model of “original innovation in Beijing, research and development transformation in Tianjin, and application promotion in Hebei,” aiming to create a new pattern of efficient collaborative development.
Deepening scientific research cooperation is a consensus among the three regions of Jingjinji. At the event, the three regions jointly signed the “Cooperation Agreement on Promoting the Jingjinji Natural Science Fund (2026-2030).”
It is reported that this fund was established in 2015, focusing on solving common fundamental scientific problems in the Jingjinji region. Over the past ten years, the three regions have invested a total of 147 million yuan. Meanwhile, 22 key projects from various technology parks in Jingjinji were signed collectively, with a total contract amount exceeding 1.6 billion yuan.
