US Workers' Confidence in Job Market Collapses, Only 28% Optimistic About Job Prospects

On March 29th, KobeissiLetter released data analysis indicating that American professionals’ confidence in the job market is collapsing. According to the latest Gallup survey, in the fourth quarter of 2025, only 28% of US employees believe that ‘now is a good time to find a quality job,’ marking the lowest level in at least four years. This figure has significantly dropped by 42 percentage points since the second quarter of 2022. US employees with a college degree are the most pessimistic, with only 19% of degree holders believing now is a good time to find a quality job, compared to a high of 73% in the second quarter of 2022. For employees without a college degree, the proportion is 35%, also the lowest in four years. Among different age groups, younger employees have the lowest confidence at just 20%, while employees aged 65 and above stand at 41%. Americans’ pessimism about the job market has reached historically unprecedented levels.
