China Mobile Global Intelligent Computing Center opens in Hong Kong

Xinhua News Agency, Hong Kong, March 25 (Huang Qiantian) - China Mobile held the opening ceremony of the Global Intelligent Computing Center on March 25 in Hong Kong, themed “Smart Connection of All Things, Computing Opens a New Journey.”

The China Mobile Global Intelligent Computing Center is located in Fo Tan, Sha Tin, Hong Kong. As the largest flagship intelligent computing center in Hong Kong, it can support the training and inference of large models with hundreds of billions of parameters. Driven by AI, the center employs technologies such as intelligent scheduling, autonomous inspections by robots and drones, and digital twins to achieve energy savings, operational efficiency, and service intelligence. The completion of the Global Intelligent Computing Center will significantly enhance the supply of high-performance intelligent computing resources in Hong Kong, promote collaborative innovation among industry, academia, and research, empower the development of Hong Kong’s AI industry, and assist Hong Kong in building an international innovation and technology center.

Liang Zhenying, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, stated in his speech that the opening of the China Mobile Global Intelligent Computing Center in Hong Kong is a result of the country’s new digital infrastructure construction and reflects Hong Kong’s role in the national development landscape. The country has clearly defined the need to accelerate the construction of a strong network nation and a digital China, and Hong Kong needs to better integrate into and serve the national development landscape, leveraging its international research environment and top-tier talent advantages.

Huang Weilun, Deputy Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, expressed in his speech that the inauguration of the China Mobile Global Intelligent Computing Center is of profound significance for the development of Hong Kong’s digital economy and artificial intelligence industry. In the future, Hong Kong will continue to leverage its unique advantages under the “One Country, Two Systems” framework and actively integrate into the national development landscape.

Chen Zhongyue, Chairman of China Mobile, remarked in his speech that the official launch of the Global Intelligent Computing Center is an important milestone in China Mobile’s service to Hong Kong’s development and its layout in the global computing power landscape. The center will serve as a key hub in the global computing power network, providing green, low-carbon, and autonomous controllable computing power services with ultra-low latency and high reliability for clients in Hong Kong and around the world.

During the opening ceremony, attendees visited the exhibition hall of the Global Intelligent Computing Center. The exhibition showcased a matrix of premium capabilities, including AI+ eight industry scenario solutions, empowering digital upgrades across various industries with end-to-end technical strength.
