Sichuan Ganfeng Lithium Industry Phase 3 Project to Begin Production Soon

China Chemical News reports that on March 16, Jiangxi Ganfeng Lithium Co., Ltd. (referred to as Jiangxi Ganfeng Lithium) announced that the 100,000-ton-per-year lithium dihydrogen phosphate project located in Puguang Economic Development Zone, Xuanhan County, Dazhou City, Sichuan Province, has completed line debugging and is about to officially start production. As the third major key project Ganfeng Lithium has deployed in Xuanhan County, its commissioning marks a further improvement of the local new energy materials industry chain and injects strong new momentum to accelerate the development of a new energy industry hub in Xuanhan County.

It is understood that the project has a total investment of 1 billion yuan and is a result of cooperation between Jiangxi Ganfeng Lithium and Fulin Precision Engineering. The project creatively utilizes idle factory space from phase one for renovation and upgrade, achieving efficient resource utilization and significantly shortening the construction cycle. After commissioning, it will have an annual capacity of 100,000 tons of lithium dihydrogen phosphate and by-products of 70,000 tons of ammonium sulfate, with an expected annual output value of 4.5 billion yuan.

From an industry value perspective, this project connects the critical link from spodumene lithium extraction to lithium iron phosphate precursor production, providing stable and high-quality raw materials for downstream cathode material industries. This not only signifies that Jiangxi Ganfeng Lithium has achieved a deep extension in Xuanhan County from “recycling” to “basic lithium salts” and then to “high-value-added lithium battery materials,” but also fills a key gap in the lithium-potassium comprehensive development and utilization industry chain in Xuanhan County.

As a global leader in the lithium industry, Jiangxi Ganfeng Lithium has continued to increase investment since settling in Xuanhan County in 2021, demonstrating a strong trend of “rooted in one place and bearing fruit.” Currently, the total investment in Sichuan Ganfeng Lithium in Xuanhan County has reached 6 billion yuan, forming a complete industrial layout with phased advancement and coordinated support: the first phase, a 100,000-ton recycling and utilization project for retired batteries, was put into operation in June 2023, opening the “last mile” of lithium battery recycling; the second phase, a 50,000-ton spodumene lithium extraction project, was successfully put into operation in December 2024, becoming an important base for basic lithium salt production; with the upcoming commissioning of the third phase lithium dihydrogen phosphate project, the company has established a complete closed-loop from lithium resource recycling, basic lithium salt extraction to high-end lithium battery material production in Xuanhan County. Once all three projects are fully operational, the total annual output value is expected to exceed 15 billion yuan, making it a significant growth driver for the regional economy.
