Hengdian Film and Television Productions' "Star River Into Dreams" partners with Netflix, marking a new breakthrough for Chinese science fiction in the global market

Following “The Wandering Earth” and “Hot Pot,” Chinese domestic films are once again gaining favor on international streaming platforms. Produced by Zhejiang Hengdian Film Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Hengdian Film and Television, the 2026 Spring Festival sci-fi movie “Star River Dreams” has officially announced a partnership with Netflix and released a global release plan. It is reported that Netflix has confirmed an early buyout of its global exclusive streaming rights outside mainland China. The film will be available on Netflix worldwide in more than 190 countries and regions starting June 2026. The global release plan has also been officially launched. According to the schedule, the film will premiere in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, and several European countries in March 2026, and in Singapore in April, with more countries and regions to be announced.
