Eurozone Industrial Output Slumps in January
(MENAFN) Industrial manufacturing in the euro area decreased by 1.5% in January compared to the previous month, according to figures released Friday by Eurostat.
Year-on-year, industrial production in the eurozone dropped 1.2% in January.
Across the European Union, manufacturing activity fell 1.6% month-on-month and declined 0.6% compared with the same period last year.
Among EU nations, Ireland experienced the steepest monthly reduction in industrial output, with production falling 9.8%.
Luxembourg recorded a 4.3% decrease, while Sweden saw a 4.1% decline.
Conversely, the largest monthly gain occurred in Portugal, where industrial output climbed 4.2%.
Latvia followed with a 3.3% increase, and Lithuania posted a 2.7% rise.
Over the year, the most pronounced contraction was in Luxembourg, with production down 14.9%.
Ireland registered a 13.1% drop, while Bulgaria experienced an 8.6% decrease.
The highest yearly growth was noted in Latvia, where output increased 13.3%, followed by Denmark with an 11.5% rise and Estonia with a 5.9% gain.
