Minister of Civil Affairs Lu Zhiyuan said at the press conference on the theme of people’s livelihood during the Fourth Session of the 14th National People’s Congress on March 7 that China has initially established a nationwide integrated elderly care service network. At the county level, there are basic public elderly care institutions serving as the “main platform” and “overall dispatch”; more than half of the townships (streets) have built regional elderly care service centers; embedded community elderly care centers are being developed in cities, and neighborhood mutual aid points and rural happiness homes are being built in rural areas.
