Vitalik Buterin had previously donated to Tornado Cash founders Alexey Pertsev and Roman Storm for their legal battles. According to data, the address belonging to Buterin had donated approximately 30 ETH worth of 113,000 dollars to vitalik.eth.

Crypto investment firm Paradigm announced in January that it donated $1.25 million to Roman Storm's defense.

One of the developers of Tornado Cash, Alexey Pertsev, was sentenced to 64 months in prison in the Netherlands on money laundering charges.
