The day after, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba will visit Washington for a meeting with Trump. In January of this year, Nippon Steel’s acquisition proposal for U.S. Steel was rejected by then-President Biden. U.S. Steel rose 3.6% in New York on Thursday, closing at $39.27, still 29% below Nippon Steel’s offer of $55 per share.
