At least 20 people were killed in an attack on a Nigerian military camp by extremist groups

On January 26, the extremist group "Islamic State West Africa Province" launched an attack on the 149th Battalion of the Nigerian Army in the town of Malam Fatori in Borno State, killing at least 20 Nigerian soldiers, including a lieutenant colonel commander. Soldiers at the scene fought the extremists for nearly three hours before finally repelling them, the sources said.
