CFTC Chairman Behnam will step down on January 20th, calling for strengthened encryption industry regulation

According to Cointelegraph, Rostin Behnam, Chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), will step down on January 20th. In his speech at the Brookings Institution, he mentioned that the expansion of the encryption industry into traditional Financial Institutions may pose challenges due to the lack of comprehensive regulation. After leaving office in February, Behnam plans to continue advocating for the filling of regulatory gaps at the CFTC. He pointed out that the encryption era highlights the need to adjust the rules of the Derivatives industry to address new issues brought by new products. Meanwhile, Gary Gensler, Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), also plans to step down on January 20th. He stated that the encryption field is rife with bad actors and that regulatory efforts still need to be strengthened. Trump plans to nominate former SEC Commissioner Paul Atkins to succeed Gensler.
