The company claims that short-term investors holding Bitcoin for less than 155 days are increasingly selling their BTC, and if this trend continues, it could affect the price of BTC. Alphractal's analysis focuses on the 'Accumulation and Distribution of STH' data, tracking the inflow and outflow of Bitcoin from addresses held by short-term investors. The daily changes in this data indicate the increasing interest of these investors in selling their Bitcoin. Alphractal said, "When analyzing the monthly changes, it is clear that the supply of STH moves in accumulation and distribution phases, strongly correlated with the price action of Bitcoin". The company noted that the interest in accumulating Bitcoin has been decreasing since December 5, putting downward pressure on the price of BTC. While Alphractal warns against overreacting to current trends, they acknowledge the nature of this data being driven by emotions. "This does not prevent Bitcoin from returning to its price hike in the future, as we have seen in 2021," the statement said. However, the company notes that current behavior suggests many investors are motivated to take profits at current prices, which may hinder any short-term price increases. The distribution trend among short-term holders may be cautious about the short-term prospects of Bitcoin, especially if it accelerates.
