According to AXIOS, a source from President-elect Trump’s transition team said that he is considering appointing an AI czar in the White House to coordinate federal policies and government use of emerging technologies. The source said that Elon Musk will not be taking up the position, but is expected to be closely involved in future debates and use cases. The position will be responsible for centralizing public and private resources to keep the United States at the forefront of AI. The federal government has a huge demand for AI technology, and the AI czar may collaborate with the chief AI officers of various agencies (these chief AI officers were established in President Biden’s executive order on AI and may luckily remain in their positions after Trump takes office).
