The Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives has proposed a new funding bill, planning to "extend the life" of government departments for 3 months.
On September 23rd, Jin10 News reported that in order to avoid a U.S. government shutdown, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, announced a Continuing Resolution (CR) bill on that day to ensure that the U.S. government’s funding can continue at the current level for 3 months until December 20th. This Continuing Resolution bill is the result of negotiations between the two parties in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate. The 3-month period for maintaining government funding is shorter than the 6-month temporary plan initially proposed by Johnson, and it specifically excludes a measure supported by former U.S. President and Republican presidential candidate Trump, which requires proof of U.S. citizenship to vote in presidential elections. The U.S. House of Representatives will vote on this bill before the 25th of this month, and then the bill will be submitted to the Senate for review before the September 30th deadline for a government shutdown.
