Flori Gilroy, one of the co-founders of BlockFi, has joined SoFi as the senior vice president of the cryptocurrency unit. This appointment was announced on SoFi's website, but the exact timing of Gilroy's taking office is not yet clear. Previously, she operated BlockFi under the name Flori Marquez. After Zac Prince, another co-founder, joined Galaxy, both returned to the cryptocurrency industry.
BlockFi was once a leading cryptocurrency lending business but had to file for bankruptcy following the collapse of Three Arrows Capital in 2022. SoFi invested in BlockFi during the seed funding round in 2018 and is now reforming its cryptocurrency services after pausing trading in 2023. BlockFi emerged from bankruptcy in October 2023.
