Australian Foreign Minister: Supports U.S. strikes against Iran, calls for de-escalation and resumption of dialogue.

Gate News bot message, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong stated that Australia supports the U.S. actions against Iran while urging all parties to exercise restraint and return to diplomatic avenues. In an interview, Wong said, “We support the actions taken by the U.S. to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.”

At the same time, she emphasized that “we do not want to see the situation escalate.” Currently, about 2,900 Australian citizens are stranded in Iran, and another 1,300 are stranded in Iraq, all of whom are seeking evacuation. Huang Yingxian stated that after the U.S. struck Iran’s nuclear facilities, Australia has suspended the bus evacuation operation from Israel but is preparing for potential evacuations after the airspace is reopened. Australia has dispatched two military transport planes to the Middle East to carry out non-combat missions to assist with civilian evacuation efforts.
