Australia begins evacuation from Israel, with nearly 3,000 people registered for assistance in the Middle East.
Gate News bot message, according to CNN, Australia has once again called on Iran to cease all nuclear weapons programs, as Iran has begun to withdraw from Israel, with nearly 3,000 Iranian citizens registering for assistance in the Middle East.
Australia's Foreign Minister Penny Wong said on Thursday in Canberra that against the backdrop of an "increasingly dangerous" situation in the Middle East, Australia is working to evacuate a small number of refugees from Israel by land and hopes to evacuate more refugees in the next 24 hours.
A small number of refugees evacuated from Israel via land on Wednesday, and the Israeli government promised to assist more refugees in crossing as much as possible.
Wong said: "Iran must make a choice; it should choose to halt any plans and return to negotiations."
Iran has long insisted that the purpose of its nuclear program is peaceful.
Wong said: "For Australians in the region, I want to say that this is a very tense and dangerous situation, and we are doing everything we can to help you. Clearly, there are indeed limitations to the government's actions, strict restrictions. The airspace remains closed."
She confirmed that the Australian government's travel advice remains unchanged, with 1,500 Australian citizens registered seeking assistance in Iran and 1,200 Australian citizens registered seeking assistance in Israel.
She continued: "If it's safe, then leave; if it's not safe, take shelter where you are. Regarding Israel, we again seek to do everything we can to assist Australians. But please listen to travel advice once more, and if you need help leaving, please register with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Australians can access emergency consular assistance."
