Jin10 data reported on April 15 that the U.S. maritime trade is facing a sudden interruption risk due to the “tariff storm” initiated by President Trump. The freight data company Vizion’s latest report shows signs of a collapse after a surge in U.S. import orders in the first quarter. Comparing the data from March 24 to 31, 2025, with the following week (April 1 to 8), the total number of booked standard containers plummeted by 49% month-on-month, and the overall U.S. import volume dropped by 64% month-on-month. Analysts state that tariffs have triggered significant uncertainty, and shippers are urgently pulling the brakes when conditions change.
