At the time of the announcement, despite the government having released 212,000 tons of stock rice in two batches, the price increase shows no signs of abating. After meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, the Agriculture Minister indicated to reporters that for the third distribution, the government will auction 100,000 tons of stock rice at the end of April, and the scale of subsequent sales will depend on market conditions and other factors. Taku Eto said, "The government will sell stock rice monthly before summer, stabilizing the continuously rising rice prices by creating a stable supply for consumers."
