Here's my take: blockchain confidentiality sounds nice in theory, but it's basically a trade-off you can't win. You want privacy? Fine—but you're sacrificing the one thing that actually matters: proper auditability.
I settled on this view ages ago, and nothing's changed my mind since. Look at the track record—Bitcoin had inflation bugs, Monero's had them, Zcash too. Most went unnoticed or unexploited, sure, but that's pure luck. When you layer on heavy privacy features, catching these things becomes exponentially harder.
So yeah, confidentiality in crypto? It's a luxury we frankly can't afford
