Der Chief Architect und Sicherheitsbeauftragte Adrian Ludwig sowie der Chief Legal and Privacy Officer Damien Kieran haben das Unternehmen kürzlich verlassen. Daraufhin traten auch die Verantwortlichen für Verträge, Personal, Talent und Produktmanagement schrittweise zurück. Interne Slack-Nachrichten zeigen, dass CEO Alex Blania mehrere temporäre Führungskräfte ernannt hat, um Schlüsselpositionen zu übernehmen. Ehemalige Mitarbeiter führten an, dass Probleme mit der Unternehmenskultur und dem Führungsstil zu den Personalabgängen beigetragen haben.
Die personellen Umbrüche fallen mit regulatorischen Herausforderungen zusammen, denen das Unternehmen bei der Sammlung biometrischer Daten in Kenia und einigen europäischen Märkten gegenübersteht. Gleichzeitig haben Altman und Blania ein separates Unternehmen namens Merge Labs gegründet, das sich auf Gehirn-Computer-Schnittstellen-Technologie spezialisiert hat, was die Aufmerksamkeit auf ihre Führungsrolle in einem Start-up im Bereich der Identitätsprüfung lenkt.
