At three in the morning, a stranger lit a lamp for me on-chain ❤️
I still remember when I first entered the space, feeling like a headless fly. After mustering the courage to make my first on-chain transfer, it got stuck in Pending for half a day because I set the Gas fee too low for a small amount of ETH. I kept an eye on the block explorer, watching the transaction get dropped time and again, feeling anxious and scared, thinking that those few dozen dollars might forever be "floating" in the Ethereum universe.
Just when I was about to give up, I timidly sought help in a Chinese developers' Discord group. To my surprise, within five minutes, a friend whose ID was a string of garbled characters replied to me. Not only did he patiently explain the principle of being "stuck", but he even said at the end, "Give me your address."
I sent it over with a hint of doubt. A few minutes later, I received a payment of 0.000 something ETH, with a note that said: "Gas fee, hurry up and speed up your transaction!"
I used this "angel" Gas fee to successfully accelerate and retrieve my funds. The emotion at that moment far exceeded the money itself. What I felt was a pure kindness from strangers. In this Web3 world, often portrayed by the outside as a "dark forest," I personally witnessed its other side: a community built on code, yet warmed by human connections.
This is the moment I want to thank the most on my Web3 journey. Thanks to that unknown friend, your small gesture lit the way forward for me, making me firmly believe that here, there is not only the fluctuation of wealth but also the transmission of value and the warm relay of support.
May this warmth also be passed on to you through my story. Happy Thanksgiving!
