On December 14, 2024, the account of Canadian performer Drake Graham on the social network X (formerly Twitter) was hacked by unknown hackers. The account was used to promote the fake memecoin ANITA, supposedly related to the musician's cartoon alter ego - Anita Max Wynn.
Publications with advertisements for the fake asset reached an audience of 39 million subscribers to the artist. As a result, the trading volume of the token reached $5 million before traders realized that the coin was fraudulent.
