Insider: Nomination Stalled, White House is Considering More CFTC Chair Candidates

[Informed sources: Nomination blocked, White House considering more CFTC chair candidates] According to informed sources, due to the confirmation process for Brian Quintenz as the chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) being stalled, the White House is considering other candidates. In recent weeks, discussions regarding the CFTC chair candidates have intensified. Informed sources indicate that potential competitors include government officials focused on crypto assets policy. The CFTC oversees trillions of dollars in swap trading, and as legislation under consideration by Congress progresses, the agency may gain greater influence in the digital asset space. The agency was originally a bipartisan commission of five members, but following a series of resignations, it currently only has acting chair Caroline Pham remaining. The Trump administration has yet to announce the replacement of Quintenz.
