These are the sensors you should clean to ensure power and smooth acceleration:
MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor:
Located between the air filter housing and the throttle body, it measures the amount of air entering the engine. If it's dirty, it can cause misfiring, loss of power, or high fuel consumption. We use MAF sensor cleaner (of the brand of your choice).
MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) Sensor:
Mounted on the intake manifold, it measures the absolute pressure inside the manifold so the ECU can calculate engine load. If dirty, it can cause jerking, misfiring, or unstable idling. We use MAF or Flowmeter sensor cleaner (of the brand of your choice).
TPS (Throttle Position Sensor – integrated into the throttle body):
Although it's not normally cleaned directly, it's important to clean the entire throttle body with a special product without manually touching the throttle valve. A dirty throttle body causes poor acceleration and high or unstable revs. We use the well-known electronic throttle body cleaner (never carburetor cleaner).
Keep in mind, as we explained at Tool Tech, that the engine should be off and at rest (not hot), and that its electrical contacts should also be cleaned.
